Summary
Lucknow District Co-operative is a full-service crop inputs retailer serving farms in Huron and Bruce Counties. We are currently seeking a Full-time Sales Agronomist to cover a maternity leave of 12-18 months. The Sales Agronomist manages existing farm customer accounts and seeks new business opportunities. This could be a unique career advancement opportunity for an up & coming professional or a legacy project for those approaching retirement.
Main Responsibilities
- Engagement with established and potential farm customers in the field crop sector: provide planned agronomic and crop protection solutions as well as in-season support through scouting and recommendations
- Proactively help customers manage crops for top end yield and profitability
- Provide timely, thorough, and accurate pricing on approved quotes
- Establish, develop, and maintain positive relationships with growers and colleagues
- Actively prospect new customers through on-farm calls and continue with current sales goals
- Co-ordinate sales efforts with operations, administration, and other applicable team members as necessary
- Seasonal deliveries of fertilizer, chemicals, and seed to growers; assisting with customer warehouse pickup
- Actively participate in continuous learning opportunities - sales, agronomy, fertilizer, seed, and crop protection training
Education and Experience
- Experience in Ag sector is essential
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are required to effectively work with customers, management, and location team members
- Excellent organizational skills, time management, and ability to prioritize duties
- Previous in-field experience including scouting, plot care and soil sampling an asset
- Must be driven, self-motivated, and customer service-oriented, while being an effective team player
- Current CCA-ON designation an asset or be willing to obtain
- Valid driver’s license required with clean abstract
